Viola & Roberta in Netherlands

21st May 2007

Yesterday ,the 21st of May, we arrived at the Eindoven airoport at 14:00. We got off the plane and took our bags. Twenty minutes later we were in the car on the way to Breda. Then we said hello to our exchange partners.
We arrived at partners`home at 15:00. We had a very good impression, they are very sociable. Their parents are very nice and their parents speak a very good English.
We gave to parents the presents from Rome, they liked them so much.
In the afternoon we met some ours friends and we visited the city and during visiting we saw too many bikes.
We were surprised. It was a new reality for us, but more fun!
Breda is more peaceful than Rome, there aren’t many cars, and the organisation of streets is more efficient than Rome, in fact it`s cleaner.
Viola ate a traditional Dutch food like vegetables without flavouring and meat, instead Roberta ate Chinese food, cause the family is Chinese.
Today we got up at 6:00,and at 8:30 we arrived at school with ours bikes.

23rd May 2007

Today we went to “Madurodam’’.
This is a place where is built a ‘’Little Holland’’. A very curious project, we liked so much.
We saw ‘’The Houses of Parliament`` and in the afternoon we did a tour in the centre of Den Haag.
Then we went to ‘’Mauritshuis Museum’’ where there are a lot of famous paintings like
``The girl with a pearl earring`` and ‘’The view of Delft’’,both by Johannes Vermeer. It was very interesting.
Then we went to ``The Hague historical Museum``.
We came back to school at 18:30 and then we went to a pancake restaurant where we ate typical Dutch food for Enrico`s birthday. In the evening we met in a pub of Breda to watch the final match of Champions League Milan vs Liverpool.

Amsterdam 29th May

This morning we met at 8:30 at school as usual, and we left by coach at 9:00 o’clock.
At about 10:30 we arrived in Amsterdam and we went immediately at the “Rijks Museum” where we saw many interesting paintings from the 17th century, the “Golden age of Holland”. We remained there two hours and then we had lunch together. After lunch we visited the “Anne Frank house”. It was a strong experience and it was very impressive to see where Anne’s family actually lived.
Then we had some free time that we spent visiting the city and buying some souvenirs. The last activity was a boat trip on the canals of Amsterdam, it took about one hour and we all enjoyed it!
At 7:00 o’clock we came back on the coach and we arrived at school on time at 20:45.

In spite of the rain and the cold weather Amsterdam was fantastic.
